Another post of me, rambling on! Yes. I was able to post this post-performum in only 31 days, thanks to my hamster-driven internetgenerator. Threewharf Hooray for modern technology.
Firemen of Death, Post-Performum.
20th of December 2015
It has been two days since our gig in Bar American. The adrenaline and alcohol are still coursing through our veins. Thinking back to all you people, I can only say: Thank you all, you are awesome! There can be no act without an audience, no comedy without (s)laughter and no music without those who listen and/or dance.
Believe it or not, this is the first gig we actually organized ourselves. No festivals attached, just Firemen of Death asking to play in the very bar where we started the idea for this ridiculous act, ten years ago. At first there was supposed to be a support act, but a couple of months before the gig, we were asked if we were able to fill an entire evening. Koninglelijk immediately said “Ja” but I had my doubts. Yes, we have enough songs, but last time we we’re collapsing on stage after performing just 14 of them. Now we had to do at least 26. We decided to use live-drums during the instrumental songs. Glad that turned out better than expected, a few slip-ups here and there, but who cares. Every slip-up is just another chance to add some improvised nonsense.
I have spoken with a lot of people, but not as many as I would like. Some people tried to speak with us while we were on stage. But we couldn’t understand any of it since the amplifiers were blowing our noises back in our faces and we don’t know how to do sign-language. All in all it was a great gig, performing in the bar that was the center point of our youth. We were happy to see both familiar faces and new faces. In a few cases we wondered if some faces were permanently glued to the bar, since they’re still sitting on the same bar-stool after all these years.
Anyway, it was an amazing evening, one we will not forget. So without further ado I will finish this glass of booze. Here’s to Bar American and all you wonderful people!
